Reviews
Just got back from a Japan trip and have been looking all over the area for japanese souffle pancakes. Happy to report that I have finally found the one! This place is the real deal, the pancakes are authentic and flavorful. They reminded me of the ones I had back in Tokyo. Will definitely be back for more to get my fix!
Okaeri Japanese Cafe has been on my list for some time. Got a chance to go there over the weekend and was impressed. Had gone there early afternoon and the place was filled. The popularity of this store is justified with the service and food. The rush wasn’t bad and was able to find seating in 5-10mins.
Ordered Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Beef curry and Goma Konbu Onigiris. They were all really good. The Goma Konbu was interesting as I’ve never had that before.
Also tried their Matcha Mochi and Yuzu lemonade. The Mochi was really good. It was soft and the cream was nice with just the right amount of sweetness.
Would definitely recommend this place for trying out a Japanese cafe.
Amazing ambiance to enjoy with your friend or date. The waffle pancakes are definitely worth trying. They also have delicious onigiri and their cakes look so good. I can't wait to try their matcha tea/latte
WORTH THE DRIVE!!!
Service was quick with the kiosks and the workers are extremely nice.
Ordered 3 drinks, hojicha latte, matcha latte, melon cream soda, ube mochi donut, strawberry Souffle Pancake, and matcha Souffle Pancake.
The lattes are strong on the tea flavor, and they offer soy and oat milk options.
Both pancakes were extremely light, not too sweet. I even think this beats out some souffle pancakes in Japan! The homemade strawberry jam and matcha sauce is absolutely delicious.
I tried their soufflé pancake. I was expecting it to be light and fluffy. It tasted good the first few bites but it becomes to sweet. But luckily there was the bitterness of the Matcha Powder to balance out the sweetness. The Onigiri tasted so good. I highly recommend trying their salmon filling. Just a note that it takes about 15-20 mins to cook your soufflé pancakes. The vibes in there made me feel like being inside a cafe in Japan (especially if you don’t face the windows!) overall everything tasted pretty good, I would come again and try other items on their menu!
I came here to try Japanese souffle pancakes, and they were truly wonderful. The texture, flavor, and taste were all excellent. It's a lovely little cafe with beautiful decor and playing delightful music. I highly recommend Okaeri.
Super cute cafe the soufflé pancakes were so light and fluffy and the sauce was the right flavor combination. The onigiri had a decent amount of filling and was pretty solid I really liked both the drinks we had and overall the decor was super cute and very fun I’ll definitely be back! I’ll
TLDR: fell short of my expectations, very aesthetic looking food but fell short in the taste department…
Strawberry Soufflé Pancakes: 5/10 - the pancake itself was moist and fluffy, the strawberries and crème were good. There was a layer of what seemed like egg white beaten that personally I didn’t expect, nor did I like very much and it kind of made the pancake tasteless.
Spam Musubi: 7/10 - I’ve had spam Musubi before and this was good. Important to note that it didn’t have any sauce it seemed like on top (usually most places fry the spam in a sauce). If you try anything, I recommend you get this.
Mango Matcha Latte: 3/10 - The matcha here was good, I could see that it had been whisked and tasted to be higher quality. The mango syrup though was just a miss for me as it was very sweet and didn’t complement the matcha very well.
